So, here's an idea since I'm running Streams.... Could I create an Access List that would be Threads compatible while leaving all of my other Lists noncompatible?

If I could...Streams and Hubzilla are the best Fediverse software that gives you better control when concerned about Meta privacy concerns, right?

I'm pretty sure you can only block or unblock Threads for an entire channel. So you could create a "Threads Yes" and a "Threads No" channel for yourself.

For Access Lists, I guess you could manually create a list that includes all of your contacts except those on Threads.

I don't know of another way to do it.

Yeah, I was thinking I could create a list of Threads accounts and keep it quarantined or something. I'm still thinking thru it all

One thing I did was clone my channel onto multiple servers. Since ActivityPub doesn't understand nomadic identity, it is only connected to one of the clones. If I want to talk to my ActivityPub people, I use the clone connected to ActivityPub. If I want to only see my Zot/Nomad people, I use the clone without ActivityPub.

This is useful if you want to follow a bunch of ActivityPub people but don't necessarily want it cluttering up your notifications.

You can also repeat this process and separate your ActivityPub contacts. Personal connections on one clone, professional connections on another clone. It's the same identity, because they are clones, but you have different sets of ActivityPub connections on each clone.

The long term solution is to have a better notifications system, but this will work in the meantime for some use cases.

Back at the window the teller notices his name on the withdrawal slip doesn't match the name on the account so she asks for his ID. He once again tells her all the relevant info is on the folded note but also gives her his ID and says it's his dad's <br />account. She tells him he will need a check from his dad to get cash. This s the best thing I have ever heard. This is going to be in training courses. (He sat there giddy for at least 5 more minutes)

When a bank gets robbed a notification with photos goes to all <br />banks in the area to be on the lookout. And there are two kinds of robbery, the pass the note and the takeover (what you see in movies). So our branch had had a big takeover robbery as well as a note one. We also had a teller that had transferred to our <br />branch after having been through a robbery. She was sweet as apple pie, hair up to the ceiling, southern lady who had just been through multiple robberies. A guy comes in and hands her a folded note. Her immediate thought was “this guy needs to learn <br />you don’t hand bank tellers notes. | am just not going to read that” So how the conversation goes: Her: how can I help you today? Him: I'm here to get money Her: great *hands him a withdrawal slip Him: all the information is on the paper Her: to <br />process the transaction I need you to put it on my piece of paper SO HE FILLS OUT A WITHDRAWAL SLIP. Meanwhile another coworker is looking at her latest robbery notification email thinking the guy at the window looks a lot like him but the teller is calm <br />and seems to be following standard transaction.

Strange that the photo order got reversed from the original post. (Well, they're reversed for me in Streams -- I don't know how everyone else is seeing it.)

#Mastodon always puts text first, pictures second. And when you see a toot in #Hubzilla or #Streams, you see pictures first, text second.

So it seems kind of logical that the order of pictures is being reversed, too. If this is generally the case, it should be filed as a bug.

Nah, actually I can't explain why it's reversed. I had a quick look. Nothing obvious but in theory Activity::encode_attachments() is the culprit. But even reversing the array that function produces didn't fix the bug. I'll investigate further in the AM. The head is about finished for the evening.

I was just about to suggest reversing the text, replacing all characters with upside-down variants, using ImageMagick to rotate the pictures by 180° and telling people to turn their displays around.
